Mariah Montgomery, Ph.D.

Practice Owner | Licensed Psychologist
  • Dr. Montgomery didn't stumble into working with high achievers by accident. With a background in academic medicine, she has spent years embedded in the environments that shape and challenge healthcare providers, working alongside physicians in the PICU, emergency room, and on the floor. She has seen firsthand what medical culture asks of the people inside it, and she understands that the same drive that makes someone an exceptional provider can also make it really hard to ask for help.

Before building her private practice, Dr. Montgomery served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas A&M College of Medicine and Dell Medical School at UT Austin, where she provided direct clinical care, conducted research, and trained the next generation of psychologists. She brings that same depth of training and genuine curiosity about people into every therapy room.

With nearly a decade of experience providing trauma and anxiety therapy to high achieving professionals, Dr. Montgomery has worked with a lot of people who were absolutely certain they could logic their way out of burnout. (Spoiler: you can't. But you can heal from it.) Whether you're a physician, woman in leadership, or just someone who has been white-knuckling it for longer than you'd like to admit, Dr. Montgomery is here to help you put down the weight you've been carrying and actually feel like yourself again.

    • High achievers, perfectionists, and the chronically "fine": trauma and anxiety therapy for the people who hold it together so well that no one ever thinks to ask if they're okay.

    • Physicians, healthcare workers, and graduate students navigating burnout, moral injury, and the unique pressures of high stakes careers.

    • LGBTQ+ individuals exploring identity, relationships, and belonging, with a provider who gets it personally and professionally.

  • Dr. Montgomery's approach is integrative by design. Rooted in relational-cultural theory, she weaves together cognitive and behavioral approaches with psychodynamic and relational therapy to meet each client where they are. She has extensive training in evidence-based treatments including CBT, ACT, CPT, Prolonged Exposure, and EMDR, and draws on these tools flexibly rather than rigidly. In other words, she's not going to hand you a worksheet when what you really need is to feel genuinely heard. And sometimes, she'll do both.
